As we previously reported, the new Apple smartphone will sport a full-screen design, almost completely eliminating the chunky bezels found in its predecessors.

The iPhone 8 will have a 5.8-inch display screen and a ‘visible cut out’ at the top where the front facing camera and ‘sensor’ are supposed to be located.

The cut-out design purportedly supports the speculations of a new Function Area for iOS 11. However, it appears to be a ‘big chunk’ that is pretty unsightly for some iPhone enthusiasts.

Another ‘confirmed’ design feature for the iPhone 8 is the dual, vertically aligned rear camera.

Apparently, the switch from horizontal to a vertically aligned shooter is part of Apple’s drive into Augmented Reality.

Reports claimed that the iPhone 8 would be equipped with a 3D laser system for an improved AR experience and functionality. The rear-facing laser will enable iPhone 8 to have a better depth detection for augmented reality apps and a more accurate kind of photography autofocus.

While it was not included on the renders acquired by Kelly, he confirmed that iPhone 8 would have a Lightning port, but there will be NO switch to USB Type-C. The elimination of USB Type-C–as opposed to previous leaks – comes as a surprise because it is a widely adopted feature in Apple MacBooks.

As with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the iPhone 8 still won’t have the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Based on the latest concept design, another noteworthy feature is the size of the Home button. Apparently, Apple decided to double its size for the iPhone 8.

If things do not work well with the Touch ID integration into the iPhone screen, the big Home button can be a saving feature where Apple can eventually put the fingerprint sensor. Much like the Sony Xperia Z5.

This feature will not come as a surprise, as Apple just secured a patent for it and several others for the use of fingerprint recognition almost anywhere on the phone.

The release date of the new Apple iPhone 8, together with iPhone 7S and 7S Plus, is still expected to be around the fourth quarter of this year. Several analysts predict that the latest premium phone from Apple will cost over $1,000 USD, making it the most expensive iPhone in history.
