With this in the forseeable future, Facebook recently announced that it’s gearing towards a video first platform. All other social media platforms are following suit. This is evident in the recent prioritization of videos across all platforms.

Question is, are you creating enough videos to take advantage of this change?

When most content creators think of creating video content, they often focus on generating new ideas. In reality, you don’t have to. You can simply repurpose your existing written content into video content.

1. Plan Your Video

There is a wide variety of video content you can create. The first step is to decide the type of video content you want to create. If you’re not camera-shy, you can go live or create an on-camera video.

There’s also an option to create a PowerPoint presentation video with a voice narrative. This works for people who are not too keen on showing their faces in a video.

2. Create a Script Out of Your Written Content

Just like a making a movie, you need to create a script for your video content. You don’t need to read your blog post word for word–that’ll be boring.

Quick tip: read your script to yourself. Is it entertaining? No? Keep revising.

To create a script, you need to highlight the key takeaways of your written content. It’s best to divide your post into short segments. This will allow for easier recording of your video content. Each short segment should deliver a key element of your written content.

3. Record Your Video.

Now you have a script ready, you can proceed to record your video. There are several tools you can use to record your video. What you’ll use to record your video will depend on the type of content you’re creating.

For live videos, you can use Facebook, Periscope, Instagram or YouTube to stream yourself to deliver your content. There is usually an option to save your livestream as a video after the stream ends.

If you’re producing gaming content videos, you can also stream on Twitch.

You could also use your smartphone to record an on-camera video of yourself. If you have a budget, you can invest in a more professional camera and proper set up for your recording.

Also, you can use good ol’ PowerPoint to create your video presentation, add a voice narrative, and record the slideshow as a video when you’re done. Add the narrative, and voila!

4. Edit, Publish and Share

After recording your video content, the next step is to iron out the imperfections.

Editing your video will allow you to polish your video in different ways. You can cut out all unwanted portions of your video, add text overlays and voice narratives, and merge multiple segments.

Some video platforms like YouTube also allow video editing directly on their platform. This feature is particularly useful for editing videos from live broadcasts.

Once you have your final video ready, proceed to start sharing it everywhere you can. As always, make sure you pay attention to analytics: they’ll teach you what’s working and what’s not in your videos.
